We are two Spanish girls who decided to volunteer in Africa to learn about their culture and help in any way we could. We ended up in the same school: Humble Beginning Academy, which hosts about 35 local children between 1 and 10 years old, 1 cook, 4 teachers and the director. All of them volunteers.
Initially we wanted to provide school supplies, but when we talked to the director, Henry, we realized that the most urgent need was to feed the kids, as food was only covered until April by previous donations.
We then decided to focus our project on raising funds to guarantee food for the children.
Our goal is to cover the cost of food (breakfast and lunch) for the children for an entire school year.
For each child per day they spend 50 shillings (0.37 euros), taking into account that there are 35 children that would be a total of 1.750 shillings per day.
For each teacher per day 100 shillings (0.74 euros) are spent, they are 6 so would be a total of 600 shillings per day.
All this gives a total of 2.350 shillings per day. 17,50 euros/day.
If there are 52 weeks in a year and 5 school days per week, the budget for food would be for about 260 days, which would cover the food for a whole school year without taking into account the vacations.

Adding approx 700 euros of management fees, the total amount to be collected would be 5.250 euros.

Estoy seguro que esos niños también han contribuido con sus sonrisas y sus miradas inocentes a convertiros en mejores personas y a reafirmaros en lo que hacéis. Os deseo lo mejor!!! P.D.
