💔 Imagine losing the work of generations in just a few days... The continuous storms and flooding that has battered the province of Cádiz during the start of 2026 have destroyed the organic farming cooperative "S.C.A. La Verde", one of the most iconic agro-ecological projects in the province. The Red Agroecológica de Cádiz (Agroecological Network of Cádiz) has created this campaign so that, seed by seed, working together we can help them flourish again.
🌱 Who are La Verde?
The organic farm "La Verde", located in Villamartin, are an outstanding example of family-run, small-scale organic farming in Cádiz provide, with more than 37 years of experience across two generations. They represent much more than a supply of organic fruit and vegetables to local families: they run a unique seed bank, they generate biodiversity, they represent synergy and cooperation, they are the soul and energy of the sustainable food transition in the province, working tirelessly towards a resilient territory populated by small-scale family farms.
🚨 The crisis
La Verde have lost everything. The entire farm has been flooded, reaching over 3 metres inside the buildings and almost 7m in the fields that make up the market garden, causing thousands of euros of damage to machinery, buildings, tools and materials, as well as the complete destruction of their irreplaceable seed bank.
The flooding has completely destroyed their current standing crop and damaged their orchards, reducing their capacity to supply local, seasonal and organic produce across the province. Critically, the erosion of the farm's highly productive soil from the fields (which remain waterlogged) means that it will be months until they can plant a new crop, jeopardising the future of this iconic organic family farm.
After years of agroecological trailblazing, La Verde faces the most difficult challenge yet: together we can be the seeds that help them to flourish again, contributing towards:
👉 €11,000 to repair the tractor which was completely submerged and is inoperative
👉 €3,500 to contribute towards replacing their destroyed machinery (including the rotovator, strimmers, brushcutter, compressor and chainsaw).
👉 €5,500 to replace the solar installation that provides the only source of energy for use in the farm buildings.
