THE PANDEMIC IN CAMBODIA
The health crisis due to Covid-19 has seriously affected the school continuity of students, especially the most vulnerable, such as PSE students. Throughout Cambodia, schools have been closed for much of 2020 and 2021. During this period, teachers and PSE social services have done everything they can to help students continue their education: providing mobile devices and access to the internet so that they can follow the classes remotely, and handing in the lessons, exercises and homework when it was not possible to do it online. Finally, in 2022 the students have returned to school since January, along with all the related programs. The pandemic has forced the Cambodian government to modify the academic year: the end of the course and school holidays will be in December 2022.
SMALL ACTIONS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Since 2004, the School Continuity Program has proven to be, during the vacation period for children and young people, the most effective tool for the continuity of educational, protection and assistance programs developed by PSE in Cambodia throughout the year. For its proper development, the NGO has a team of more than 200 volunteers who travel between seven and five weeks to Cambodia each year. Here, they care for more than 3,000 children daily, guaranteeing them a suitable environment far from their neighborhoods of origin, where they may be forced to work or exposed to contexts of violence.
PHONM PENH EXPRESS 3
PSE For the Smile of a Child celebrates for four weeks, from June 3 to 30, the third edition of the Phnom Penh Express. The objective of the participants is to overcome the 13,000 km that separate Phnom Penh from Madrid, as well as to obtain funds for the School Continuity Program in Cambodia. The 2022 School Continuity Program is on its way! Help us to get it!
